BYU (2-0) has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2020 college football season so far and is doing so in dominating fashion.

The 22nd-ranked Cougars have outscored their opponents (Navy and Troy) by a combined score of 103-10. Those numbers would even be more lopsided if the Cougars didn’t take a knee near the goal line in both games late in the fourth quarter to show good sportsmanship.

The Cougar offense has been putting on a show as the team is currently averaging 51.5 points and 622 yards per game. And it’s not like BYU has played a bunch of cupcake teams either as USA TODAY statistician Jeff Sagarin ranks BYU’s schedule as the 32nd most difficult in the country so far.

Navy finished 11-2 last year with a Top 25 ranking. Meanwhile, Troy finished 5-7 last year, after a 10-3 season the previous year, which included a win over Nebraska. Troy also beat LSU in 2017 and gave Clemson all it could handle in 2016.

To put things in perspective of just how dominate BYU has been this year, the total margin of victory (+93) is the second most through the first two weeks of play in program history.  The current point margin record (+98) came in 1977 when BYU beat Kansas State (39-0) and Utah State (65-6).

Here’s a breakdown of how BYU has fared on both sides of the ball compared to past years.
