It was the shot heard around the world.
UConn’t believe it? Well, neither can we!
Friday’s late night game between No. 2 Mississippi State and No. 1 Connecticut was no April Fools’ joke as the Bulldogs took down the Huskies, 66-64, in perhaps the biggest upset in women’s college basketball history.
In the national semifinals and with the whole world watching, UConn couldn’t keep the streak going as the loss ended the Huskies’ 111-game winning streak.
With the game all tied up at 64, Mississippi State guard Morgan William got the ball with less than five seconds to go in the game. The junior quickly drove into the lane before hitting a nifty floater to send the Bulldogs to the NCAA championship game against South Carolina on Sunday.

The story gets even crazier as the Bulldogs not only ended UConn’s impressive streak, but also got some revenge in the process after falling to the Huskies by 60 points in a 98-38 loss in the Final Four last year.
But this time was different and is a good reason why you play the game. The Bulldogs certainly redeemed themselves with the shot going down in Mississippi State history. And instead of people talking about the Miracle on Ice, they’ll be asking where you were during the UConn-Mississippi State game.
