As the season nears to a close with Real Salt Lake making a playoff push, it was reported Thursday that English center back Nedum Onuoha has signed a two-year deal with the club, according to MLSSoccer.com’s Sam Stejskal.
The source reported that the deal is guaranteed through 2019 with the club holding an option for 2020.
A former England Under-20 and Under-21 National Team player, Onuoha began his career with Manchester City, making 95 appearances for the team from 2004-12.

During the 2010-11 season, he made 31 appearances in the Premier League on loan with Sunderland. After just one appearance with Man City in 2011-12, Onuoha signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Premier League side Queens Park Rangers. During a seven-year run with the team, he made 222 appearances across all competitions.
RSL currently sits fourth in the Western Conference with 46 points and just six games remaining. The Claret and Cobalt are currently four points behind second-place Sporting Kansas City and just four points above seventh-place Vancouver for the final playoff spot. After scoring 14 goals in three consecutive wins, RSL will host Minnesota (9-16-2) on Saturday as it looks to push its winning streak to four games.
Onuoha is expected to compete with Justen Glad and Marcelo Silva (currently injured) for minutes in coach Mike Petke’s rotation.
