The USWNT finished off the World Cup qualifying in style, cruising to a 7-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago to clinch the top spot in Group A.
It started early for the U.S. when Tobin Heath sent a cross into the box that found the feet of Alex Morgan, giving the U.S. an early 1-0 lead in the 9th minute.

The U.S. had multiple chances over the next half hour but could not convert, including multiple shots striking the post, keeping the scoreline close.
Then right before the end of the first half, the U.S. started to finish its chances, starting when Rose Lavelle fired a bullet from 25 yards out, giving the U.S. a 2-0 lead.

World Cup Qualifying: Morgan, Rapinoe Lead U.S. In Rout Over Mexico
Lavelle made it 3-0 just two minutes later when she pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired into the back of the net, recording her first career international brace.
Crystal Dunn gave the U.S. a third goal in just five minutes when she fired a shot into the lower left of the goal from just outside the 18-yard box in the 45th minute to give the U.S. a 4-0 lead heading to the locker room.

The second half started much like the first half ended, with Lindsey Horan unleashed a shot from outside the box that easily beat the Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper, giving the U.S. a five goal lead.

Alex Morgan made it 6-0 just a minute later, when she pinged a shot off the inside of the crossbar for her second goal of the match. It was Morgan’s 94th career international goal, needing just six more to join the elite 100-goal club.

Tobin Heath put the exclamation point on the U.S. rout in the 58th minute, giving the U.S. the 7-0 lead which held until the final whistle.
The U.S. played nearly the entire game in Trinidad’s half of the field, registering 59 total shots, compared to none for Trinidad and Tobago.
With the blowout win, the U.S. clinched the top spot in Group A, winning all three matches by 18 total goals. Panama also advanced to the semifinals as the group runner-up.
The U.S. will await the runner-up of Group B and will travel to Frisco, Texas for the semifinals and final of the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship. The semifinal matches will take place on October 14 and can be seen on FS1.
