Alex Morgan was named the 2017 CONCACAF Female Player of the Year on Sunday.

The CONCACAF Awards are voted on by media members, national team coaches, captains, and fans. Morgan has now won the award for the second consecutive time and for the third time in her career.

The 28-year-old striker had a big year with both club and country. While on loan at French club Lyon, Morgan scored 17 goals in 15 matches, helping lead the team to the Division 1 Feminine League title, the Coupe de France, and the UEFA Women’s Champions League title.

After returning to the Orlando Pride following her loan stint, Morgan tallied nine goals – tied for fifth in the NWSL – and registered four assists in just 13 matches.

She picked up the NWSL Player of the Month award for August after scoring in five straight games, including three consecutive game-winning goals, during which the Pride went 4-0-1.

After leading the team to its first ever playoff appearance, Morgan was named to the NWSL Second Best XI Team.

For the United States, Morgan registered seven goals and added two assists in 14 appearances, leading the team in goals scored. All seven goals came in the last seven games of the year.

Morgan has also been nominated for U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, an award she first won in 2012.

The USWNT will be returning to the pitch on January 21, 2018 when they take on Denmark in an international friendly in San Diego.
