It was a wild week in college football as eight ranked teams suffered losses, including five to unranked teams. This, of course, caused a big shakeup in the rankings with several teams falling, while others joined or climbed up the rankings.

Following its 23-17 victory over Notre Dame, Georgia earned a first-place vote as it continues to chip away at No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Alabama.

After blowing out Michigan, Wisconsin made one the biggest jumps of the week as the Badgers climbed up to No. 8 spot to give the Big Ten two teams in the Top 10.

The Pac-12, which saw its playoff hopes likely go out the window with USC upsetting then-No. 10 Utah 30-23, has the third most teams in the AP Poll with five. Oregon is the highest ranked team as the Ducks jumped up three spots to come in at No. 13. California made the biggest move as the Golden Bears jumped eight spots to come in at No. 15. With Washington’s impressive win over BYU, the Huskies jumped up to No. 17 and now face a big showdown with No. 21 USC as the Trojans find themselves back in the rankings after falling two weeks ago at BYU.

Following its 30-23 loss to USC — and against a third string quarterback — voters punished the Utes as they dropped nine spots to tie Michigan for the largest drop in the rankings.

USC Upsets No. 10 Utah; Ute Fans React

Following Friday’s loss, one AP voter called Utah a “pretender” a week after Utah had enjoyed the program’s earliest Top 10 ranking. The Utes also fell to No. 19 in the Coaches poll, down eight spots from No. 11.

Washington State dropped entirely out of the Top 25 after it blew a 32-point lead to UCLA and lost, 67-63, as the Bruins picked up their first victory of the season.
