Week two of the college football season brought plenty of surprises and upsets as five ranked teams lost.
BYU (2-0) was among those teams causing havoc as the Cougars took down their second consecutive Pac-12 opponent with a convincing 26-17 victory over in-state rival Utah (1-1).
The pollsters rewarded the Cougars with a No. 23 ranking in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches poll. The Utes, which came into Saturday’s game ranked No. 21, fell out of both polls.
BYU will face its third consecutive Pac-12 opponent and second consecutive ranked opponent on Saturday when the Cougars host No. 19 Arizona State (2-0).

The top three teams remain the same with Alabama at No. 1, Georgia at No. 2 and Oklahoma at No. 3. Oregon jumped up eight spots after going on the road and beating then-No. 4 Ohio State. Meanwhile, the rest of the Pac-12 didn’t fare well as Washington (0-2) lost to Michigan, Utah lost to BYU and Stanford (1-1) defeated then-No. 14 USC (1-1) 42-28.
Iowa (2-0) climbed up to No. 5 after its in-state win over then-No. 9 Iowa State (1-1). Other notable moves include Arkansas making its first AP Top 25 appearance since 2016. The Razorbacks crushed then-No. 15 Texas 40-21 victory at home.
