It wasn’t a great week for Atlanta Hawks center Dwight Howard.
The eight-time All-Star was pulled over for speeding on the same day the Hawks were eliminated from the playoffs in a series-ending Game 6 loss to the Washington Wizards.
Howard was clocked going 95 mph in a 65 mph zone, prompting Georgia, police to pull him over. After pulling him over, police learned Howard was driving without insurance and was driving on a suspended registration.
Howard was ticketed for lack of insurance, had his car towed, but was just given a verbal warning for speeding.
As news broke, Howard quickly went viral as fans sounded off on both for his actions on the court and off. And despite making over $23 million this season, Howard averaged just eight points and 10.7 rebounds in the series loss to the Wizards.
Here are some of the top reactions on social media:
Chris B: “Well we know he wasn’t chasing after a rebound or loose ball.”
Curtis P: “What’s all the fuss about? Do you really think he’s thinking about car insurance in the middle of a game?”
Ray B: “At least his driver’s license will have some points.”
Andrew B: “Should’ve stayed in LA can’t go more than 35 mph on the freeway with all the traffic here.”
