It took some time, but Tom Brady’s Super Bowl jerseys have been found.
After a putting together one of the most remarkable comebacks in NFL history, Brady, a future Hall of Famer, got not one, but two of his Super Bowl jerseys back after the FBI, NFL, and the Houston Police department traced the stolen goods back to Mexico.
In a statement today, Brady was glad the case had come to a resolution.
“I am happy my jerseys from SB 49 and SB 51 have been recovered, and I want to thank all of the law enforcement agencies involved. I know they worked hard on this case — and it is very much appreciated. Hopefully when I get the jerseys back I can make something very positive come from this experience.” – Tom Brady
A former Mexican newspaper executive who used a credential to access the field and get into the locker room is accused of taking Tom Brady’s Super Bowl jersey.
A video surfaced Monday that shows footage of a man walking into the locker room and then walking off with a bag and jersey in hand. More than 20,000 credentials were given out for the Super Bowl and the police and FBI reviewed them, narrowed it down to their suspects and people of interest.
The story got even crazier as the FBI recovered Brady’s jerseys, but also Von Miller’s helmet from Super Bowl 50. The star linebacker for the Denver Broncos had his stuff stolen and authorities and still trying to authenticate the helmet before saying anything.
News of Brady’s missing jersey first surfaced when Brady told Patriots owner Robert Kraft in an on-camera locker room conversation after the game that he was unable to locate his jersey.
“Someone stole my game jersey,” Brady said to Kraft.
“You better look online,” Kraft jokingly responded.
Luckily Brady didn’t have to look online for his jersey, but President Trump’s wall might have just gotten taller.
