The nation’s longest winning streak is over.
The 11th-ranked LSU Tigers came-from-behind to take down No. 7 UCF in the 2019 Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium — home to the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.
LSU quarterback Joe Burrow completed 21 passes for 394 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 40-32 victory. The win gave LSU its first 10-win season since 2013 while the loss also snapped UCF’s 25-game winning streak.
The Speedy Knights jumped out to a quick start thanks to running back Greg McCrae’s 25-yard touchdown run. Then with LSU looking to score, UCF defensive back Brandon Moore intercepted Burrow and returned it to the house for the 93-yard pick-6 to give the Knights an 11-point lead.
But behind its mamoth offensive line, LSU controlled the game as the offense racked up over 550 yards of total offense compared to just 250 yards for UCF.
LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson had four catches for 87 yards, including a game-high two touchdowns.
