Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson Gives First Game Check To Hurricane Harvey Victims

What would you do with your first NFL paycheck?

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has already made a big impression on the field this season in his rookie year, took his first paycheck and made sure to pay it forward.

While the rookie has made some memorable plays, the first-round NFL pick made his best move of the season this week when he donated his first NFL game check to the Texans cafeteria workers at NRG Stadium who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

Watson walked in with checks in envelopes wrapped in ribbon and said, “For what you all do for us every day and never complain, I really appreciate you all, so I wanted to give my first game check to y’all to help y’all out in some type of way,” he said. “Hopefully, that’s good and that can get you back on your feet. And anything else y’all need, I’m always here to help.”

Watson is not the only Texans player to step up to help the city of Houston out after Harvey devastated the city. Star defensive end J.J. Watt started a relief fund that has raised tens of millions of dollars for those impacted by the storm.

ESPN notes that Watson has been on the receiving end of similar gestures as his family were recipients of a house built by Habitat for Humanity.
