Craig Sager, one of the most iconic sideline reporters in sports history passed away on Thursday.

Sager, who was 65, was known by many because of his high character as well as his unique and outlandish suits, lost his battle with cancer after battling the disease for nearly three years. Earlier this year, Sager underwent his third a bone marrow transplant – something rarely seen in the medical field — and was surprised by a visit from his TNT colleague and NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley who went against his doctor’s orders to see Sager.

During his career, Sager worked as a reporter for the Olympics, NFL, MLB, NCAA Tournaments, among other sports. During his college days, Sagar attended Northwestern University where he walked onto the football and basketball teams and even served as the school’s mascot.

His son, Craig Sager Jr., shared a very heartfelt video of him and his father as he looked back on some of his favorite childhood memories.

NBA on TNT also shared a beautiful video tribute to Sager on its Twitter account. The video which is narrated by Ernie Johnson Jr., goes through Sager’s life, his friendships, his colorful wardrobe and his fight that rallied and inspired so many people around the world.

After the news broke of his passing, athletes and reporters expressed their gratitude and reflected on the memories they shared with Sager.
