The showdown between No. 2 LSU and No. 3 Alabama lived up to its billing in a battle between two high-powered offenses and star quarterbacks in LSU’s Joe Burrow and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa.
Burrow threw for 393 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 46-41 thrilling victory over the Crimson Tide. The win snapped LSU’s eight-game losing streak in the series in what was a statement win on the road for the Tigers.
Tagovailoa, who started in his first game back after undergoing surgery three weeks ago, completed just 21-of-40 passes, however, the 6-foot-1 junior threw for 418 yards and four touchdowns to go along with an interception and a fumble.

The 6-foot-4 senior also ran for 64 yards and was carried off the field by his teammates after the game.
“He’s one of the best we’ve had here,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said. “But we’ve still got four games left and we’re going down the road, we’re going to try to win every game and we’re going to bring a championship back to Louisiana.”
LSU running back Edwards-Helaire ran for 103 yards on 20 carries and added nine catches for 77 yards. Alabama running back Najee Harris finished with the game-high 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
