Major League Baseball doesn’t start for a couple more weeks as players get ready for the upcoming season.
With 162 regular season games, spring training games are more for the fans as well as up-and-coming players who are trying to get some attention. Then there are those veteran players like Asdrubal Cabrera — a two-time All-Star who is going into his 11th season — that don’t need to prove anything with the regular season around the corner.
And that’s exactly what he did.
During Thursday’s game between the New York Mets and the Detroit Tigers, Cabrera was caught trying to steal second on pitcher Anibal Sanchez. A rundown ensued as Cabrera avoided a tag from the first baseman before running back and forth a couple of times before finally giving up and jogging back to the dugout before being tagged out.

This Asdrubal Cabrera "rundown" in the first inning still has me cracking up. "Betcha can't catch m– ahh, screw it." pic.twitter.com/OGgtEFLQGf

The star shortstop’s hilarious decision to jog back to the dugout before being tagged soon went viral as fans had a great time joking on social media.
That was phenomenal. Cabrera caught in a rundown, runs back and forth for a bit, then realizes it's spring training and runs off the field.
