NBA Playoffs: Cavs Beat Celtics In Game 7, Advance To NBA Finals

LeBron-James-Cavs

He wasn’t going to be denied.

Despite Kevin Love sidelined with a concussion and going on the road against a Boston Celtics team that hadn’t lost at home throughout the playoffs, LeBron James came up big once again as the Cavs walked out of TD Garden with a 87-79 victory.

Faced with another Game 7, James put together another big-time performance as he just missed out on a triple-double with 35 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists on Sunday night to lead the Cavs to victory.

With the win, James advances to his eighth consecutive trip to the NBA Finals which will take place on Thursday against either Houston or Golden State. The Rockets host the seventh game of the West finals Monday night. James played all 48 minutes and had 12 of his points in the fourth quarter.

Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston as the rookie scored 24 points. The Celtics were looking to return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010. Al Horford scored 17 points and Marcus Morris added 14 with 12 rebounds for Boston in the loss.

As the buzzer sounded, the Cavs put on their 2018 NBA Final hats and Eastern conference championship shirts before receiving the trophy.

Filling in for Love, Jeff Green scored 19 points and added eight rebounds to help the Cavs advance.

The Celtics have also had to overcome their injuries. Gordon Hayward has been out since the first game of the season, and Kyrie Irving went down with a season-ending injury in March. With the rookie Tatum and second-year Jaylen Brown, Boston established itself as the team of the future in the East.

However, as of right now, everything still belongs to James and the Cavs.
