Star Lotulelei To Sign 5-Year Deal With The Bills

The Buffalo Bills are expected to sign defensive tackle Star Lotulelei to a five-year deal when the free agency period officially opens on Wednesday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The former University of Utah standout recorded 141 tackles and 11.5 sacks in his career. He’s also rather durable, starting every single game over the past two seasons. Lotulelei was ranked No. 28 in NFL.com’s Top 101 Free Agents of 2018.

The Bills desperately needed to improve their defensive line with just two interior defenders under contract for the 2018 season. By signing Lotulelei, Buffalo’s front office fills a glaring hole with a familiar face with the run-stuffing stalwart.

The former first-round pick will bolster a line reuniting with a familiar face in Kyle Williams, the 34-year-old tackle who struck a one-year deal worth $6 million with the Bills on Tuesday.

In Buffalo, Lotulelei will reunite with former Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, who led the Bills to the playoffs in his first season as the team’s head coach in 2017.
