For the first time in 15 years, there was no home field playoff advantage prize awaiting Tuesday night’s winner between the Amercian League and the National League.
But it didn’t matter as the players provided a playoff atmosphere at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida.
With the game going into extra innings, Seattle’s Robinson Cano took things into his own hands as he crushed a 1-1 pitch over the right-field wall which ended up being the game-winning hit to give the American League a 2-1 win over the National League.
The win gave the AL it’s fifth consecutive victory and for the first time since 1964, the rivalry is even at 43 wins apiece. Most remarkably, is that both sides have now scored exactly 361 runs.
And with that, here are all the top moments:
Hair Flip
Bryce Harper is one of the top players in MLB and also has arguably the best hair too. The five-time All-Star put it on display as he made a diving catch in the top of the second to help the NL get out of the inning. After making the grab, Harper flipped his hair back and the internet went crazy.

Picture/Molina Time
Athletes have had some memorable moments with some unique celebrations over the years. Well, add this one to the list.
Seattle’s Nelson Cruz, also a five-time MLB All-Star took out his cell phone as he walked up to home plate. The 2011 ALCS MVP asked catcher Yadier Molina to take a picture of him with home plate umpire Joe West in the top of the sixth inning.
“They (MLB) didn’t say I couldn’t have a cell phone on the field,” Cruz said on Fox. “I’m a big fan of Joe West. He’s been around for a while. I was like, I have to do this.”

West recently became just the third umpire in MLB history to record his 5,000th regular-season game. And after catcher Yadier Molina took the pitcher, the catcher turned around in the bottom half of the inning and flipped his hair after hitting a solo home run. Harper was all smiles.

New Interviews
For the first time, Fox conducted several in-game interviews with a number of All-Star players. During the top of the fourth, Harper turned the tables on Fox broadcaster Joe Buck when he asked about his thoughts on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Yes, it was awesome. Dak later chimed in on Twitter saying, “Appreciate the love, You’re THAT DUDE though. Every day of the week.”
