Coming into Saturday’s showdown between BYU and No. 24 USC, all eyes were on true freshman Kedon Slovis.

Yet, it was BYU QB Zach Wilson who stole the show as the sophomore lead the Cougars to a 30-27 overtime victory over the 24th-ranked Trojans at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

It was the second consecutive overtime game for the Cougars who took down Tennessee last week in another dramatic victory.

Wilson threw for 280 yards and a touchdown and ran for another in the win. Running back Ty’Son Williams added 99 yards on the ground to keep the Cougar offense balanced and ended the game averaging 5.2 yards per carry.

Slovis had 281 yards and two touchdowns, however, the freshman also had three interceptions, including the overtime pick which sealed the win for BYU.

Isaiah Kaufusi, Dayan Ghanwoloku and Payton Wilgar each had an interception in what was an impressive defensive performance after what Slovis did to Stanford last week.

The win over USC, was the first in program history and the first over a ranked team at home since 2015 when BYU took down No. 20 Boise State, 35-24.
