Just days after Portugal’s Round of 16 World Cup exit, rumors have surfaced that Cristiano Ronaldo could be leaving Real Madrid after four Champions League titles for Italian club Juventus.

Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent said, “If he leaves it will be a new challenge for him. Should Cristiano leave Real Madrid he will be eternally grateful to the club, to the president, to the entire front office, the medical team and all the staff, without exception, as well as all the fans all around the world.”

While not necessarily a confirmation of a possible exit, he and Ronaldo have pushed for a new contract for over a year from the La Liga power and using the possibility of leaving the club as leverage. Ronaldo made headlines in May when talking about his career he said, “It’s been very nice playing at Real Madrid.”

With a possible move on the horizon to Serie A, Ronaldo could be the missing piece to a possible Juventus Champions League title, after finishing as runners-up in 2015 and 2017. Ronaldo brings a wealth of experience in the competition, having won five total titles and becoming the tournament’s all-time leader in goals scored.

The 33-year old Portuguese national team star has spent the last nine years at Real Madrid, winning 15 trophies and four Ballon d’Or Awards while becoming the clubs all-time leading goal scorer. Ronaldo began his Real Madrid stint following a six-year run at Premier League giant Manchester United, where he won his first Ballon d’Or and Champions League title. Ronaldo began his career playing one season with Sporting Club Portugal.
