With Utah up 30-14 with 1:52 left in the game, Utah senior quarterback Troy Williams bent down and untied his shoelaces before taking off his shoe and then jogging over to the sideline.
Despite the seconds ticking off the clock in his final collegiate game, Williams purposefully took himself out of the game in order to get walk-on and third-string quarterback Drew Lisk into the game.
The selfless act is a big reason why Williams has been a two-year captain for the Utes.

Drew Lisk, a graduate of Jordan High School and who amassed 4,706 yards of total offense as a senior, jogged onto the field to take the last snaps of the game. Lisk, walked on to the team in 2016 before being the team’s primary scout team QB this year.
With senior Alabama transfer Cooper Bateman not making the trip, Lisk earned the third-string QB spot for the bowl game. Lisk, made the travel roster in four of five road games but did not make an y appearances.

Knowing this, Williams’ act makes it arguably one of the best stories of 2017 as the senior made sure to get Lisk into the game. After losing his starting job in fall camp, Williams ended up starting three games this year due to injuries to Sophomore quarterback Tyler Huntley, including a win over Colorado on Senior Night.
“He (Troy) never sulked, never pouted, work ethic never dropped off, his preparation never dropped off,” Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham told the Salt Lake Tribune. “He was prepared every single week. It’s a credit to who he is as a person.”
