2018 NBA Awards: James Harden, Rudy Gobert and Ben Simmons Take Home Awards

2018 NBA Awards

The 2017-18 NBA season has officially come to a close.

Monday’s awards show — which was voted on by the media — put a cap on another great season for the league.

Houston’s James Harden took home MVP honors as he edged out LeBron James to win his first NBA MVP title. Harden took down James despite the fact “The King” put together one of his best statistical seasons ever in his 15th season.

In an awkward moment, Dwane Casey won Coach of the Year for the Raptors despite being fired from the franchise after the Raptors were swept in the second round the playoffs as the No. 1 seed.

Ben Simmons beat out Donovan Mitchell for Rookie of the Year in what was one of the most contentious debates of the season as Simmons was drafted two years ago but sat out all of last season with a injury.

Utah’s Rudy Gobert took home the Defensive Player of the Year award and the Clippers’ Lou Williams won the Sixth Man of the Year award for the second time since 2015.

The Play of the Year — which was voted on by the fans — was also handed out as well as the Dunk of the Year, Clutch Shot of the Year, Assist of the Year, Block of the Year and Handle of the Year.
