The wait is finally over.
After 26 years, the Atlanta Braves are world champions again after taking down the Houston Astros (7-0) in Game 6 to take the series, 4-2.
After rallying in Game 5 to extend the series, the Houston Astros could not muster another rally as the Braves cruised to the shutout victory.
From start to finish, the Braves showed no mercy as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third thanks to a 3-run homer from outfielder Jorge Soler.
It was Soler’s third home run of the series, and he was named the series Most Valuable Player.
Dansby Swanson and Freddie Freeman also homered in Game 6.
The Braves were last champions in 1995 when they beat the Cleveland Indians. With the victory, the Braves have now won four titles and finally got the monkey off of their back.
