It was another down-to-the-wire finish between No. 13 BYU and USC Saturday night inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. After blowing a big lead, the Cougars held on for a thrilling 35-31 victory against the Trojans.
With the win, BYU improved to 10-2 on the season and secured its first back-to-back 10+ win season since 2008-2009 when the Cougars went 10-3 and 11-2. BYU went 11-1 last year.
The win also assured that the Cougars a perfect record against the Pac-12 as BYU went 5-0 against Arizona, Utah, Arizona State, Washington State and USC.
Jaren Hall led the way on offense as the dual-threat quarterback threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns, added 26 yards on the ground and didn’t take a sack either.
Like he has all season, running back Tyler Allgeier had another outstanding game as the sophomore rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns. It was the sixth time this year that Allgeier has rushed for more than 100 yards, and now has 12 for his career. The 5-foot-11, 220 pounder is 7th all-time at BYU in rushing yards and also moved into No. 2 on the single-season rushing record with 1,394 yards, passing Pete VanValkenburg who had 1,386 in 1972. Luke Staley still holds the record after rushing for 1,582 yards in 2001.
Here’s how fans, the media, players and coaches reacted after the game:

The Cougars go to LA and win against the talented Trojans to keep their NY6 Bowl hopes alive while improving to 5-0 this season against a conference that didn’t want to give them an invite

BYU has beaten USC to complete the super-sweep:
5-0 vs Pac-12 in football
2-0 vs Pac-12 in basketball
7-0 overall and bragging rights for eternity— Jon Wilner (@wilnerhotline) November 28, 2021
BYU returned 37% of its production from last season when they went 11-1. Will finish 10-2 against a much tougher schedule in 2021 while going 5-0 vs. Pac-12. Heck of a job by Kalani Sitake and company.
