Barcelona is one of the most dominant soccer clubs in the world, but after going down 4-0 in the first leg of the Champions League game to PSG, nobody really gave them much of a chance heading into the second leg on Wednesday.
But don’t tell that to Barcelona players and coaches as the team made history by scoring three goals in the final seven minutes for the stunning 6-5 aggregate come-from-behind series victory.
Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic told reporters after the game that the team still believed they could pull it off thanks after watching the New England Patriots rally from 25 points down to beat the Atlanta Falcons last month in Super Bowl LI.
“It was really impossible. 15-20 minutes after the game, it is crazy and unbelievable. … We had to believe. 4-0 was hard, but it is football. We saw it in the Super Bowl, what is possible in sport. Today was crazy. This is Barcelona, the best team in the world and we want to continue our dream in the Champions League.”

After the come-from-behind series victory, the New England Patriots trolled the Falcons with a congratulatory tweet to FC Barcelona saying, “Welcome to the comeback club.”
According to ESPN, Barcelona’s comeback even had oddsmakers shaking their heads as Wednesday’s game rose as high as 100-1. To put that into perspective, the Patriots odds stood at 16-1 after going down 28-3 in the Super Bowl last month.
Wednesday’s comeback will be one of the greatest of all time.
