He did it!

Russell “Triple-Double” Westbrook was named the 2016-17 Most Valuable Player Monday Night at the NBA’s inaugural awards show.

The 6-foot-3 point guard had truly one of the most remarkable seasons in NBA history as he led Oklahoma City to the playoffs, broke Oscar Robertson’s record for most triple-doubles in a year (42) and became just the second player to ever average a triple-double in a single season.

Westbrook finished the year tops in the league in scoring (31.6), was third in assists (10.4) and was 10th in rebounds (10.7) per game.

He didn’t just barely manage to get his triple doubles either as the six-time All-Star had three 50-point triple-double games, including a career-high 57 points against the Orlando Magic. Westbrook then scored 54 against the Denver Nuggets in which he achieved his first career buzzer-beating shot on the same night he broke Robertson’s record for most triple-doubles in a single season.

The driving force in Westbrook’s remarkable season was due to his former teammate Kevin Durant taking the easy way out and signing with the rival Golden State Warriors. With Durant gone, Westbrook took things into his own hands and used that as motivation to have one of the best seasons in NBA history.

After being awarded MVP honors and giving his heartfelt speech, commercials and videos quickly spread congratulating Westbrook on his incredible year.

Taylor Swift sent Westbrook a hilarious video in which she playfully joked about teaching Russ everything he knew. The Jordan brand shared an awesome cartoon video and Samsung put the finishing touches on a great tribute to Westbrook’s career so far.
