In his first game as a Heisman Trophy winner, Joe Burrow put on a show as the senior threw for seven touchdowns and 493 yards as No. 1 LSU rolled to a dominating 63-28 victory over No. 4 Oklahoma.
The game was never close the as Tigers raced out to a 49-14 halftime lead and didn’t look back in the Peach Bowl semifinal game inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
With the win, LSU (14-0) now heads to the championship game against No. 3 Clemson — a 29-23 winner over No. 2 Ohio State in the second semifinal game.
“We go into every game thinking nobody can stop us,” Burrow said after the game.
Unfortunately for Oklahoma, the Sooners found out the hard way.

LSU tied a number of records in the win as Burrow’s seven TD passes — all of which came before halftime — tied the record for any college bowl game. Wide Receiver Justin Jefferson was on the receiving end for four touchdowns, also tying a bowl record.
And for the icing on the cake, Burrow got in on the action on the ground as he rushed for a 3-yard score in the third quarter for his eighth total touchdown of the day. The senior thoroughly dominated his showdown with Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts, the Heisman runner-up.
Running for his life most of the game, Hurts was largely stymied on the ground and through the air. He ran for a pair of touchdowns but gained just 43 yards with his legs. He was held to 15 of 31 for 217 yards passing and an interception.
