After losing the World Series after blowing a 3-1 lead to the Chicago Cubs, you would think the Cleveland Indians would have learned their lesson.

They did not.

After going up 2-0 in the best-of-five series against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series, the Indians fell apart and dropped its last home game of the season in a 5-2 defeat at at Progressive Field.

With the win, the Yankees will head to Houston as they take on the 101-win Astros on Friday in the best-of-seven ALCS series.

New York’s Didi Gregorius had two home runs to lead the Yankees who took down the 102-win Cleveland Indians. In fact, not only did the Indians blow a 2-0 series lead, they also wasted a season for the ages after going on a 22-game winning streak and set an American League-record record in the process.

“There’s just a ton of fight in this club,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi told USA Today when he was asked how his club rallied to beat the Indians. “It’s a great mixture of youth and veteran players that are the leading the way and it’s hard to believe because we just beat a really, really good team.”
