Nobody likes getting booed.

But to have that happen on the biggest night of your life is downright “turrible” as Charles Barkley would say.

After being selected with the No. 4 overall pick by the New York Knicks in the 2015 NBA Draft, it was a moment that Kristaps Porzingis would never forget as Knicks fans mercilessly booed him.

One young boy made headlines after he was caught crying his eyes out, putting his hands up in disbelief and then topped it off with a big thumbs down.

“I mean a lot of fans weren’t happy that they drafted me, but I have to do everything that’s in my hands to turn those booing fans into clapping fans,” Porzingis told reporters. “There’s nothing I can do. I was happy about it (getting drafted to New York). I want to be a part of this organization, and I know the fans are a little harsh sometimes but that’s how it is here in New York and I’m ready for it.”

It didn’t take long for those booing fans to turn into supporters, especially the little young boy who now calls Porzingis “his idol.”

The three-time Rookie of the Month averaged 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in just 28 minutes of action. Porzingis would have likely averaged a double-double if he played the entire game.

Because of his freak abilities and fun style of play, Porzingis was quickly called “Godzingis” by Knicks fans.

The little young boy, who recently went to a camp that put on by Porzingis, got the opportunity of a lifetime to play one-on-one against the man he once booed at, but is now his idol.

After getting the ball first, the little boy faked left before driving to his right for a layup. Porzingis wasn’t fooled as he waited patiently to swat the ball out of the air to reject his once former critic.

“That’s what you get for crying when he was drafted,” commented an announcer at the event.

Porzingis then followed it up with a slam dunk before the two posed for a picture and gave each other high-fives.

So congratulations Porzingis, you got the last laugh and a friend for life.
