The game not only lived up to the hype, but was one of the greatest games in NFL history.
Fourteen touchdowns were scored, including three on defense. A total of 105 points were scored with both teams scoring over 50 points for the first time in NFL history.
In the final moments, the Rams did just enough to leave walk away with a victory at home as Jared Goff threw a 40-touchdown pass to Gerald Everett for the go-ahead score with under two minutes to play as the Rams outlasted the Chiefs, 54-51.
“It was a crazy game, crazy game,” said Goff, who passed for 413 yards and four touchdowns and even ran for another score. “It seemed like whoever had the ball at the end was going to win the game. There was times where we felt like we were going to put the knife in and finish them, and there were times where it was the other way around, where we had to claw back into it.”
Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes kept his impressive season going as he passed for a career-high 478 yards with six touchdown passes in the loss.
The highest-scoring game in the league this season was an offensive fantasia of ingenious scheming from mastermind coaches Andy Reid and Sean McVay.
No matter who you were rooting for at the end of the day, everyone on social media agreed that this is the matchup everyone wants to see come February in the Super Bowl.
