Kyrie Irving got his wish.
After requesting a trade during a July meeting with Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, the 25-year-old will now call Boston home. Irving was traded to the Boston Celtics on Tuesday in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 first-round pick.
Arguably, the best part of this trade is that both teams will play in the season opener against each other as the Celtics go on the road to face the Cavs on Oct. 17.
