BYU came into Sam Boyd Stadium with a perfect 8-0 record against UNLV, and they weren’t going to let that record fall.

Led by running back Squally Canada, who has battled injuries all season, the junior rushed for a career-high 213 yards on 25 carries as the Cougars led from start to finish in a 31-21 victory over the Rebels.

Canada became just the 12th player in program history to rush for over 200 yards and finished the night with the 8th most rushing yards in a single game at BYU. The junior’s biggest highlight came on a 54-yard run down the sideline in the third quarter and finished the night with a whopping 8.5 yards per carry.

With so many injuries this season, especially at running back, Canada delivered on a night where true freshman Joe Critchlow made his first career start. The freshman had an easy night handing the ball off to Canada for big gains and finished the night completing 14-of 22 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown.
