It was a comeback for the ages!

Led by Sophomore Timmy Allen, who had a team-high 27 points, five rebounds and five assists and freshman sensation Rylan Jones who chipped in 25 points and six assists, the Utes rallied for a thrilling 102-95 overtime victory over BYU in front of 11,565 fans inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

Thanks to a come-from-behind victory Wednesday night, Utah improved to 6-2 on the season and most importantly, took down rival BYU (6-4) — a team it hasn’t beaten since 2015.

College Football Playoff Rankings: Utah, Oklahoma Move Closer To Playoff Spot

Utah outscored BYU 16-9 in overtime, but incredibly, never had the lead in regulation as the Utes came-from-behind to force overtime before pulling away. In both the first half and second half, the Cougars had a 16-point lead, but the Utes never gave up.

After chipping away at the deficit and getting a break with BYU star forward Yoeli Childs missing most of the second half with an injury, on top of two players fouling out, Utah  pulled within a point with under a minute left in the game.

After stealing the ball, Jones missed a layup that could have given the the Utes a one-point lead. After BYU’s Alex Barcello made two free throws on the other end to push the lead to three, Jones came right back as the freshman knocked down a 3-pointer to push the game into overtime.

“I felt bad for Rylan at the end of the game,” Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak said. “He missed that layup, then he came right back and hit a big shot. Overall, it was a great win for the University. More than anything, it was staying in it. We had an opportunity to fold (after getting down big), but we stayed in the moment.”
