We’ve all been there.
With the game on the line and you team needs a comeback to win the game, some fans, players and coaches will do some crazy things (i.e rally caps, pray, etc) in hopes their team will come out with a victory.
Last year, BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall was caught with what appeared to be a little prayer before freshman quarterback Tanner Mangum threw his second consecutive game-winning Hail Mary to give the Cougars a win over then-No. 20 Boise State.
Did anybody else notice the obvious prayer from @Bronco_BYU right before that touchdown? #BYUvsBSU #blessed pic.twitter.com/4SrpFNNmUP

Well… it worked.
A plethora of Cubs fans were likely in the same boat during Game 7 of the World Series in which Chicago defeated the Cleveland Indians, 8-7, in a title-winning, drought-breaking, impossible-to-believe game.
In a very funny way, the Springfield Central Baptist Church posted a meme that has since gone viral.
The meme reads, ““FYI, if you made any promises at the bottom of the 9th, service starts at 10:45 Sunday morning.”
Well played, Central Baptist Church. pic.twitter.com/4visl9ve9g

Robert Reynolds, the worship arts director for the church, was the one who came up with the idea after watching the nail-biting game with other Cubs fans.
“When things were tied up, a lot of people were praying and started making promises,” he told the State Journal-Register. “I thought it would be funny … to passive-aggressively call out a few people.”
Whether or not it has an impact on attendance, Sabo is just glad it’s giving the church some positive publicity.

Here is some of our favorites:
- Sorry, already promised my soul to the devil to get the Giants to beat the Patriots in super bowl XLII.
- Not a religious guy, but that’s smart advertising!
- What if my promise depending on the Indians winning? Do I still have to go?
- And don’t forget that clocks turn back an hour on Sunday.
- And here I thought the joke was going to church for forgiveness for drinking… shoot, maybe I need Jesus.
