North Dakota State — which beat Iowa earlier this year — came into Saturday’s game against rival South Dakota State having won five straight FCS championships.
The Jackrabbits knew it was going to take some extra effort to knock off the reigning champs.
After a 28-yard touchdown was overturned after an SDSU runner was ruled down on the 1-yard line, and after a false start, the Jackrabbits had the ball on the 6-yard line.
And that’s when SDSU pulled out their bag of tricks.
Brady Mengarelli, standing just 5-foot-10, hid right behind his big offensive lineman. After receiving the snap from the quarterback, Mengarelli waits a bit as several teammates start running in opposite directions to fool the defense before taking the ball in for the score.

If you’ve think you’ve seen this play before, you probably have if you’ve watched the movie the Little Giants. That play was called “The Annexation of Puerto Rico,” in the hit 1994 classic film.
This play has been used before at the collegiate level. In 2015, Auburn did the same thing against Texas A&M at Kyle Field and Texas Tech did the same in a win over Texas.
