It was a moment, every kicker dreams about — making the game-winning field goal.
And LSU’s Cole Tracy did just that as the senior kicked a 42-yard field goal on the final play of the game to give No. 12 LSU a 22-21 road victory over No. 7 Auburn Saturday Night in their Southeastern Conference (SEC) opener.
Quarterback Joe Burrow led LSU (3-0) down the field in the final minutes with clutch plays and two pass interference calls against Auburn (2-1). That set up Tracy’s game-winning field goal as players swarmed the field in celebration.

Burrow hit Derrick Dillon over the outstretched arms of Auburn linebacker Deshaun Davis for a 71-yard touchdown with just over 8 minutes left in the game. However, LSU’s two-point attempt failed, leaving Auburn with a 21-19 lead.
But, the LSU defense game up big when it needed to as it gave the Tiger offense one last chance to win the game.
Burrow passed for a game-high 249 yards and a touchdown and Nick Brossette ran for at team-high 69 yards on 19 carries for LSU.
