Move over, Boston, Los Angeles has officially become Title Town.
For the second time this month, Los Angeles claimed a major sports championship as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, 3-1, in Game 6 of the 2020 World Series. With the win, the Dodgers ended a 32-year championship drought for one of MLB’s most decorated franchises.
Despite winning seven straight divisional titles, the Dodgers could never put it all together until Tuesday night. It was a long time coming for players and fans who jumped for joy after the franchise won the World Series.
After going down 1-0 in the first, the Dodgers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Mookie Betts, who the Dodgers traded for earlier in the year, showed why the Dodgers wanted him. The right fielder hit a one-out double to tie the game up and then raced home for the go-ahead run on Corey Seager’s grounder to first.
Then in the 8th, Betts hit a solo shot to put a stamp on the 2020 season.
Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager was named Most Valuable Player for the series. He was the unanimous choice for the award after hitting .400 for the series to go with two home runs, four doubles and a stolen base. He was on base 14 times and scored a series-best seven runs and drove in five more. The shortstop also claimed the NLCS MVP and becomes just the eighth player ever to win both MVP honors. The last to do it was Madison Bumgarner in 2014.
Here’s all the best reactions after the win:

The @Dodgers clinched the #WorldSeries with 16 strikeouts in Game 6.
The only other team with 16+ strikeouts in a 9-inning World Series game was the Cardinals in Bob Gibson's 17-strikeout CG in 1968 Game 1.#Dodgers
