The good news keeps on coming for Cougar football fans.
A day after BYU opened up fall camp — signaling the start of the college football season —fans woke up to some more good news Friday morning as the Cougars announced a two-game series with Virginia Tech, with games in 2026 and 2030. Both football programs have never played against each other.
The first meeting will take place at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia on Sept. 26, 2026, with the Cougars set to host the Hokies on Sept. 14, 2030, at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

“Virginia Tech has consistently been one of the best teams in college football for a very long time,” BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe said in a statement. “They are always in the running for the top spot in the ACC because of their high level of talent and great coaching. We are pleased to be able to schedule this series.”
With the first game still being over nine years away, fans and media members still had a lot of fun with it. Here are the best reactions:

BYU schedules football game (vs. Virginia Tech) in 2030. That has to be the current record-holder. And no, I won't be covering that game.
