The game more than lived up to the hype.
In a thrilling showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, the game went into overtime — a first in a Super Bowl — and nearly a second overtime until the Chiefs scored the game-winning touchdown for a dramatic 25-22 overtime victory at Allegiant Stadium in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
The 49ers came into the game as 1.5 favorites.
Down 22-19 in overtime, the Chiefs orchestrated a spectacular comeback as Mahomes not only converted a 4th down to keep the drive alive, but then threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman a few plays later to give the Chiefs the victory.
As confetti showered the field, Mahomes, Kelce and Reid embraced their status as NFL legends and Hall of famers, drawing comparisons to the illustrious trio of Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Bill Belichick. Mahomes, at just 28 years old, now stands among the elite quarterbacks in NFL history, setting his sights on a 3-peat that would further cement himself among the world’s best.

“Well, you know the goal has always been to get three,” Kelce screamed on stage after sharing a kiss with Swift. “But we couldn’t get here without getting that two, and having that target on our back all year. How about that. We get a chance to do it three times in a row.”
“With all the adversity we’ve been through this season to come through tonight. I’m proud of the guys,” added Mahomes, who earned his third Super Bowl MVP award. “This is awesome. Legendary. I am going to do whatever I can to be back in this game next year. Three-peat.”
The dual-threat quarterback started making plays and targeted Kelce too in the second half, as the veteran went on to have a game-high nine receptions for 93 yards. It certainly helped that he had some extra inspiration as Taylor Swift was in attendance cheering him on.
With the victory, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Andy Reid solidified the Chiefs’ status as a dynasty, clinching their third Super Bowl title in five years. With their remarkable achievements, the trio have etched their names in football lore, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the continuation of the Chiefs’ dynasty.
